    The Ideal Fit & Styling

We recommend wearing the CPO jacket slightly on the larger side, leaving room for one or two additional layers. The buttons should close easily, and not too tightly around the chest. The cuff should extend past your wrist, allowing the option to turn up the cuff to reveal the Liberty of London Pima Cotton fabric.

Online is a small range of what we offer. Need a different size? Have one made to order in your size (8–10 weeks).

Since 1968, the Nantucket Looms CPO Jacket has been a staple of the Nantucket wardrobe, serving as a practical, more relaxed alternative to a traditional sports coat.

Hand-tailored in a cropped silhouette, this jacket is crafted from our Black Tweed. The cloth is woven in a deep, flat black that highlights the clean lines of the silhouette and gives the jacket a timeless versatility. As is traditional for our CPOs, it is lined in a Liberty of London print, "Persephone".

    The Legacy

The name "CPO," short for Chief Petty Officer, references the jacket's origin, inspired by the durable wool overshirts worn by naval officers. Designed to layer comfortably over a variety of garments, it offers a polished look while remaining rooted in everyday wear. Each jacket is made by hand using the original pattern of the late German seamstress, Lia Marks, and features colorful Liberty of London cotton fabric. Every jacket we produce embodies this intricate and time-honored craftsmanship, bringing together tradition, artistry, and the finest materials for a truly unique garment.
