"Pilings" by artist Megan Hinton distills a familiar coastal scene into an elegant meditation on color, light, and atmosphere. Created as a monotype, the composition centers on a pair of weathered pilings rising from softly rendered blue water, their reflections extending below in delicate washes of color. A vivid band of warm gold and crimson along the horizon creates a striking contrast against the cool palette, drawing the eye across the tranquil surface. Through simplified forms and luminous layers, Hinton captures the enduring beauty of the waterfront while inviting the contemplation of the interplay between structure, water, and light.
