Alexandra Yurkosky, known as Sasha to her friends, is an artist who divides her time between Montclair, New Jersey, and Nantucket, Massachusetts. While she has explored a range of creative mediums, including ceramics, oil painting has been her primary focus since 2009 and remains the most rewarding challenge in her artistic practice.
Sasha’s work is characterized by a loose, energetic style that embraces movement and spontaneity. Her studio practice is lively and intuitive, allowing each painting to evolve through gesture, color, and rhythm. A member of the Nantucket Artists Association, she draws deep inspiration from the island’s landscape, creating vivid vistas and still lifes that celebrate Nantucket’s distinctive light and abundant flowers.
Working with bold shapes and distinctive color palettes, Sasha’s paintings move beyond strict representation to capture the vitality and spirit of her subjects. Her expressive forms and dynamic compositions reflect the influence of modern masters such as Richard Diebenkorn and Henri Matisse, as well as contemporary and regional artists, including Anne Sutherland, her first teacher, David Lazarus, Lisa Breslow, and Susan Melrath.
Alongside her artistic career, Sasha holds a master’s degree in mathematics and works as a math tutor in Montclair. She finds equal satisfaction in the structured logic of mathematics and the open-ended exploration of painting, recognizing meaningful parallels between the two disciplines through their shared reliance on pattern, composition, and thoughtful problem-solving.

All orders from our inventory are shipped via UPS Ground. Furniture & Area Rug orders will be drop-shipped by our partners.

Expedited Shipping:
All orders placed before 12pm Monday-Friday will be shipped out the same day. Orders placed after 12pm Monday-Friday will be shipped out the morning of the next business day. Orders placed on Saturday, Sunday or holidays will be shipped the next business day.

This item is available for free on-island delivery & curbside pickup.

Returns & Exchanges:
If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, we will gladly offer you an exchange or refund of the merchandise price within 30 days of receipt of product.
