Terry Pommett
Terry Pommett has been photographing on Nantucket since the 1980’s. Back then his work came from a film camera, where it was an involved process from purchasing the film, shooting the image to developing in the dark room. These days, Pommett has transitioned into digital photography, yet his roots are still planted in film. Pommett grew up in New York and attended college in Washington DC. It was a friends wedding that brought him to Nantucket and he fell in love with the island, eventually settling here and starting a family.
He has travelled to over 60 countries, photographing his journeys along the way but his heart has always remained on Nantucket. Though he started out shooting weddings and doing commercial work, Pommett now mostly enjoys shooting portraits, architecture, editorials and the sailboats at Nantucket’s sailing events, like the Opera House Cup. He is passionate about photography as an art form and still loves to dabble with film photography for his own personal projects. With five published books and over thirty successful years in the business, Terry Pommett is a true master of his craft.
