A Sweet Collaboration

A Sweet Collaboration

Recipe by Kaity Farrell of Fare Isle

We partnered with Nantucket private chef Kaity Farrell of Fare Isle to bring you this Torta di Ricotta. It was a natural and sweet collaboration-not just because of this delicious recipe, but because Kaity's beautiful baking process- from her ingredients, preparation and finished product-so perfectly compliments our favorite kitchen & pantry products.

We are particularly excited to try out this recipe for its Effie's Homemade Biscuit crust- a favorite of our pantry offerings. The perfect crunch to pair with the creamy filling.

Watch & be mesmerized by Fare Isle's beautiful process.

We are always on the lookout for products with an interesting story behind them. Effie’s Homemade Biscuits are 4 generations of history in one sweet and salty bite. Not quite a cracker, but also not a cookie, they have a satisfying crunch that pairs well with specialty cheeses, jams, and locally sourced honey. They are not fancy, in fact, the simplicity of Effie's biscuits is what makes them so special. Made with fine ingredients that one would have on hand in their own kitchen, the simple recipe allows for the top quality ingredients to come forward- a tasty snack or addition to your recipe, like in Fare Isle's Torta di Ricotta.

Founded by Joan McIsaac and Irene Costello in 2008, Effie's Homemade Biscuits gets its namesake from Joan’s mother, Effie. Effie perfected her family’s long shared Scottish oat cake recipe with her children and pretty much everyone who was a part of her life.

A taste of Effie's Homemade Biscuits is memorable in its warmth and familiarity, like something your grandma would make- which, for Joan, is the highest compliment. The biscuits combine a salty sweetness to this recipe that offer a balance to this pie's creamy filling. Whether the original Oat Cake or Pecan Biscuit, you will be in for a treat.
