Susan Duane

Susan M. Duane is a lifelong Nantucketer and photographer whose career spans editorial, commercial, and fine‑art photography. After college, she studied and worked at the Maine Photographic Workshops before moving to New York, where she worked with the Magnum photo agency and later in the marketing department at HBO.

She later moved to Aspen, Colorado, where she served as director of Photographer/ Aspen, a collective of National Geographic photographers. Eventually, she returned to the East Coast to become the first photography director at Boston Magazine.

Duane has maintained strong ties to Nantucket’s arts community, working with the Artists Association of Nantucket, Horne Ashby Gallery, and Nantucket Looms.
