Robert Reeve has spent more than fifty years working as a woodworker in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, building furniture, carving birds, and working in house carpentry through his one‑man shop. Raised by watercolorist parents, he began painting under their mentor, Harold Stevenson, and has continued to develop a practice shaped by both craftsmanship and observation. In his artist statement, Reeve describes a lifelong fascination with birds — their flight, colors, shapes, songs, and behaviors — a perspective that informs his carvings and sculptural work. His pieces reflect this enduring curiosity, offering a grounded, tactile interpretation of the “bird’s‑eye view” he has always imagined.
