Leigh Royer

Leigh Royer is a landscape painter whose work centers on the interpretation of light and color in the natural environment. Her paintings are primarily representational, capturing specific moments in time while thoughtfully refining each composition to emphasize what is most essential rather than strictly documenting a location.

Royer studied fine arts as an undergraduate and later earned a master’s degree in industrial design from Pratt Institute. She spent twelve years working in New York City as a product designer and eventually as a design director, focusing primarily on tabletop and housewares design. In 1990, she founded her own product design consulting firm, continuing her work in the design field.

In 1998, Royer relocated to New Jersey, where she balanced her professional work with family life while raising her son. Nearly two decades later, in 2017, she moved to Nantucket to fully pursue her long-standing passion for painting.

Today, Royer is an active member of the Artists Association of Nantucket, the Pastel Society of Cape Cod, and the Pastel Society of South Carolina. Her work is also exhibited at Nantucket Looms on Main Street.
