Artist Sandra Flavin’s oil paintings are inspired by the landscapes of two geographically distinct places, both connected by their big skies and intense color pallets: Nantucket and Texas. A member of the Nantucket Artists Association since 1996, Sandy won the AAN’s Promising New Artist award in 1998. With a BFA from Colorado State University, Sandra has continued her studies throughout her artistic career at top visual arts programs. Interacting with students and instructors—including fellow Nantucket Looms artist Key Layman—energizes Sandra’s work.
Sandra’s education is wide-ranging. She received a BFA from the Colorado State University and has studied at the Art Center College of Design, School of Visual Arts, Southern Methodist University, Denver Arts Students’ League, New York Academy of Fine Art, Caravaggio Studio, and Georgetown University.
