Crafting the Perfect Charcuterie Board
Whether we're hosting a casual get-together or a festive holiday party, we find that a charcuterie board is a real crowd-pleaser. By incorporating local delicacies such as organic cheeses, farm fresh produce, and handcrafted serving vessels, it is a feast for both your eyes and palate. Here are our tips to create a stunning and delicious charcuterie board that will make an impression on your guests.
Before you start assembling your charcuterie board, make sure you have all the necessary supplies on hand:
- We love Ed Wohl’s Birdseye Maple Cutting boards. We suggest serving on one side and cutting on the other.
- Small serving dishes or ramekins
- Cheese knives and small spreading utensils
- A variety of cured meats and cheeses
- Assorted crackers and nuts
- Fresh or dried fruits, such as grapes, strawberries, and apricots
- Olives and pickles
- Honey, mustard, or other condiments
Select Your Charcuterie Meats and Cheeses
The anchor of any charcuterie board are the meats and cheeses. Select three or four of each to place randomly throughout the board.
- Prosciutto
- Salami
- Chorizo
- Brie
- Cheddar
- Gouda
- Blue cheese
- Camembert
Arrange Your Board
And now to the fun part - arranging your charcuterie board!
- Create balance: Distribute the items evenly across the board to avoid overcrowding any one area.
- Mix textures and colors: Arrange items with different textures and colors to make the board visually appealing.
- Overlapping and folding: Overlapping slices of meats or cheese can add depth to your presentation.
- Use small bowls: Place condiments, olives, or nuts in small bowls or ramekins to keep them contained and add visual interest.
