Midge Dey captures Nantucket beautifully with this sweet, yet sophisticated piece. A true admirer of our island’s beaches, she combs its shores to collect indigenous shells and sand. Here, she has used them to pay homage to a classic Nantucket artform, the lightship basket.

Marjorie "Midge" Webb Dey turned a relaxing hobby into a lucrative and original business expenditure. As a child, she loved collecting shells and stones from the beaches of the Jersey Shore where she grew up. Now, she uses her inspirations from the Cape and Islands to make her beachcomber shadow boxes, incorporating indigenous shells and sand to create unique island trinkets based on the scenes and icons relevant to the island. Midge is the owner of Marjorie's of Brewster, MA and Sudbury, MA.
