Notable local painter, Robert (Bobby) Frazier is best known for capturing the airy quality and shifting light of Nantucket's landscapes. With his signature sweeping brushstrokes, Bobby paints the Grey Lady fog as it lifts around Brant Point Light. In the foreground bobs a moored sailboat. "Fog Lifts Brant Point" depicts a quiet stillness that is felt early on summer mornings, just before the hustle and bustle begins both on and off the water.
Bobby describes his style as "fairly loose. Even when painting in the studio, even without the plein air threat of rain or changing light, I find myself working quickly". His quick brush strokes make for a fitting parallel with how quickly the light and weather can change on Nantucket.
